Rev. Henry Roberts was called into the ministry in 1990. He was ordained to pastor in December of 1992. He became the pastor of the Greater Grace MBC in Sauk Village, Illinois in 1994. Through the merger of Greater Grace and Calvary Baptist Church in 1996, Rev Roberts became the Assistant Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Glenwood, Illinois. In Oct. of 2003 God called him to become the co-pastor of a new church plant, Couriers For Christ Ministries (CCM). The planning and organization of CCM began and the first worship services were held in Richton Park, Illinois at the Sauk Trail Baptist Temple on May 23, 2004. Couriers For Christ Ministries currently own the church building at 21301 Kildare Ave., Matteson, Illinois.
Rev. Roberts is the founder and organizer of Stewardship Institute, which operates exclusively for charitable and religious purposes. The Institute consults and teaches using Biblical concepts of stewardship to the Church community. Church administration, debt free living, financial management and individual stewardship are the major topics of Stewardship Institute. He has assisted several churches in running a capital stewardship campaign.
Rev. Roberts is a retired executive vice president of the ABN AMRO (parent of LaSalle Banks) Information Technology Company. He had been in information technology for thirty-four years, seventeen of which had been within the banking industry. He was honored in 2000 as the outstanding black man in science and technology by the Monarch foundation.
Rev. Roberts received his BS in economics from Purdue University in 1963. He joined Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity in 1961. He received his Masters in Christian Ministry from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in May 2003.
Rev. Roberts serves on several boards including Educational Training and Development Inc. and South Suburban PADS (public action to deliver shelter.)
Rev. Roberts is a frequent speaker at colleges, churches, high schools and technical seminars. He is a certified instructor in the National Baptist Convention, USA Inc. He and his wife of over 50 years have facilitated at numerous marriage retreats.
Henry Roberts and his wife Carol (who is an ordained minister) reside in Frankfort, Illinois. They have two grown children, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
